Before doing any tutorial on the safety of deleting .mui files, you need to ask yourself about the real need to delete a .mui file, without going through the correct uninstallation of a complete language pack in Windows.
It may be the case that when you run the search for unused, duplicate or unnecessary files, on your Windows system, you find a large number of .mui files, which you may want to delete, however, it is recommended to do a correct and official uninstallation of the language pack, in order not to break operating system integrity.
Unless you are an expert in operatings systems, manual .mui file deletion is contraindicated. You must be 100% sure of what you are deleting since in some occasions, even if you restore the previously deleted file, the registry may already have changed and therefore the behavior of the software / operating system may have changed.
You can safely delete unused MUI files using Regional Options dialog Control Panel-> Regional Options-> Language->Advanced. Select the language pack you don’t need and click on “Remove” button”
On the other hand, you should also bear in mind that the MUI files could also be used by other programs, such as Office, which have the Multilanguage option enabled, therefore, in most cases, when these programs are run, the .mui files can be recreated, or in the worst case, the program may malfunction due to an incorrect uninstallation or deletion of .mui files.
.Mui files are harmless and generally don't take up excessive hard drive space, so in most cases, you don't need to delete them. Many of the files that have .mui extension are of vital importance for the operating system since they can be dll libraries with a translated interface that can affect the performance of its execution.
Our recommendation is to leave these files intact.
